2017 1st QuarterAccording to the Tahoe Sierra Multiple Listing Service, as of the end of March 2017 home sales are down in the Tahoe Region compared to the first quarter of 2016. Our team believes this to be true due to the fantastic winter we’ve just been through. Buyers and sellers just couldn’t get up and down the highways with any regularity. Squaw Valley & Alpine Meadows are both reporting over 700 inches of snowfall this season! The Spring skiing is exceptional. The big picture is that all this snow is great for Tahoe, California, and Real Estate. Even though overall sales volume dropped 7%, mostly affecting properties below $1,000,000. The median home price experienced a 2% increase. Tahoe City this quarter vs. last year at the same time is worth noting. The sleepy little town experienced a 28% increase in volume sold, mostly due to the median home price of $611,000. Homes sales for less than a million around the entire lake decreased 31%.
